San Antonio
San Antonio’s River Walk wave from 2024 has aged past our window, so its list is short and strict. The Monarch
anchors the reimagined Hemisfair park, and The Gunter Hotel
reopened after a full restoration of the 1909 landmark. Next is Sítio El Tropicano, the first River Walk hotel reborn, taking reservations from mid-December.

Fort Worth
Fort Worth is the Texas that Dallas isn’t: the Stockyards with the twice-daily cattle drive and rodeo, a Cultural District anchored by the Kimbell and the Modern, and a walkable downtown around Sundance Square. Demand swings with the Fort Worth Stock Show in winter, TCU football and big Stockyards weekends. It’s the natural alternative to Dallas for AT&T Stadium in Arlington, which sits between the two cities, and its recent standouts include Bowie House, Auberge Collection in the Cultural District and Hotel Drover in the Stockyards. Galveston
Galveston is Houston’s beach — a barrier island about an hour southeast with the Victorian Strand district, the long Seawall and one of the country’s busiest cruise ports. Rates move with summer beach season, Mardi Gras Galveston and cruise departure days, when travelers fill the island the night before sailing. The Hill Country

The Standard, Austin
The Standard’s first Texas hotel, transforming the former South Congress Hotel, which closed in summer 2026 for the work. It is planned to welcome guests in spring 2027 and is not yet bookable.

The Birdsall, Auberge Collection
Houston’s first Auberge: a 34-story tower with 105 rooms, 44 residences and a private members’ club at The RO in River Oaks. Construction on this phase began recently, so treat 2027 as a target.

Sítio El Tropicano
The first hotel ever built on the River Walk returns as a 315-room urban resort with the river’s largest pool deck and restaurants from Emmer & Rye. Reservations are open for stays from mid-December 2026.
- Dallas · Targeting 2027
Four Seasons Hotel Dallas at Turtle Creek
A 35-story Four Seasons with residences on the upper floors in the leafy Turtle Creek corridor. The 2027 date is a target rather than a confirmed opening.

The pipeline is strong but deserves patience: Sítio El Tropicano returns to the River Walk first, followed by The Oxbow Grove Hotel, Hotel Trinity, The Standard, Austin, The Knox, Auberge Collection, The Birdsall, Auberge Collection and the Four Seasons Hotel Dallas at Turtle Creek. New Hotels in Texas: Common Questions
1 Hotel Austin opened in September 2026 inside the Waterline, the tallest building in Texas. Other 2026 arrivals include Moxy Dallas Uptown and The Greenleigh in Houston, which reopened the former Hotel Derek in August 2026.
1 Hotel Austin occupies the Waterline, a 74-story tower of roughly 1,025 feet in Austin’s Rainey Street district. It overtook Houston’s JPMorgan Chase Tower as the tallest building in the state.
The Standard, Austin is planned for spring 2027 as the brand’s first Texas hotel. The Birdsall in Houston and the Four Seasons at Turtle Creek in Dallas are targeting 2027, and The Oxbow Grove in San Antonio is planned for the Pearl. Sítio El Tropicano opens for stays from mid-December 2026.
The Driskill in Austin completed a full restoration in June 2026, The Gunter Hotel in San Antonio reopened in 2025 as a Tribute Portfolio hotel, and The Highland Dallas finished a full renovation in July 2025.
AT&T Stadium is in Arlington, between Dallas and Fort Worth. Hotels along the I-30 corridor, such as Home2 Suites by Hilton Dallas I-30 Cockrell Hill, are the practical choice, while Uptown Dallas suits fans who want nightlife after the game.
The Inn at Green Pastures in Austin, Hotel Saint Augustine and Hotel Daphne in Houston, and The Marlene, a nine-room Montrose inn, lead the list. All opened within the last two years.
It depends on the city: SXSW, ACL and Formula 1 in Austin; the Rodeo in Houston each February and March; Fiesta in San Antonio in April; and the State Fair in Dallas each fall. Big football weekends move every market.
